Over a year before the first film's events, the Abbott family attends son Marcus' baseball game. Mid-game, bewildered spectators look skyward as a flaming object hurtles towards the Earth. As people exit the park and attempt to drive away, the town is beset and attacked by hostile alien creatures possessing armored skin and extraordinary speed and strength. The blind creatures have hypersensitive hearing to track and target all of their victims.

In the present, the aliens have killed much of the Earth's population, including Lee Abbott, who sacrificed himself in the previous film to save his surviving family - wife Evelyn, deaf teen daughter Regan, adolescent son Marcus, and a newborn son. Regan discovered that high-frequency audio feedback could incapacitate the creatures, devising a makeshift method of transmitting the noise from her cochlear implant hearing aid through a microphone and speaker, allowing Evelyn to fatally shoot the creatures when they are vulnerable.

With their isolated home now destroyed, the family searches for other survivors. They bring Regan's kit to fend off the creatures. Upon entering a fenced-off area with Evelyn setting off a sound trap, Marcus gets his right foot stuck in a bear trap. His subsequent screams attract a creature. Using the hearing aid and a shotgun, Regan and Evelyn kill it, free Marcus, then flee into an abandoned steel foundry as another creature arrives. They stumble upon Emmett, a reclusive friend of Lee's who reluctantly takes them to his bunker under the foundry.

Marcus and Regan discover a radio station signal that continuously plays the song "Beyond the Sea". Regan determines it is a clue meant to lead survivors to the nearby islands. She theorizes that if she can reach the radio tower located there, the hearing aid's high-frequency noise can be transmitted to other survivors who can weaponize the signal against the creatures. After telling Marcus her plan, she secretly ventures out alone to find the island. Discovering Regan is gone, Evelyn implores Emmett to bring her back. Emmett finds Regan and wants them to return to the foundry. Appealing to his sense of duty, Regan persuades Emmett to help complete her mission.

Meanwhile, Evelyn leaves Marcus and her infant at the foundry to gather needed medical supplies and equipment. During her absence, Marcus explores the foundry and discovers the corpse of Emmett's wife. Startled, he knocks over some objects, alerting a nearby creature. Marcus narrowly gets into the bunker, but accidentally locks himself and the baby inside.

At a marina, Emmett and Regan search for a boat. When feral humans living there ambush them, Emmett deliberately creates noise and attracts two creatures that slaughter the deranged inhabitants. When one creature drowns, Emmett realizes that the creatures can't swim. Regan secures a small boat and the two reach the island where a small colony of survivors is living a relatively normal existence. The colony leader reveals that when the government discovered the creatures were unable to swim, the National Guard moved as many people as possible to the islands.

Evelyn returns to the factory. She distracts the creature and frees her children from the air-tight bunker. The three continue hiding inside the bunker as the creature prowls the foundry.

A creature that boarded a boat at the marina has drifted to the island and immediately begins attacking the colonists. The colony leader, Emmett, and Regan jump into a car and lead the creature to the radio station. The creature kills the colony leader while Emmett and Regan escape into the station.

The creature attacks and is about to kill Emmett. Regan transmits the high frequency through the room's speakers, incapacitating the creature. She impales its exposed head with a metal rod, killing it and saving Emmett. Simultaneously at the foundry, the creature has discovered the bunker. It attacks Evelyn. Before it can kill her, Marcus picks up Regan's transmission and plays it through his portable radio, incapacitating the alien. Marcus shoots it dead with Evelyn's revolver.

Regan leaves her hearing aid connected to the radio station's microphone, allowing anyone receiving the frequency to weaponize it.

Luca Paguro, a timid young sea monster living off the coast of the Italian city Portorosso, herds goatfish and is forbidden by his parents to approach the surface, as humans might hunt him. One day, Luca meets Alberto Scorfano, a fellow sea monster child who lives alone above the surface, claiming that his father simply is not around much. Alberto encourages Luca to adventure out of the ocean, showing him that sea monsters look exactly human when dry, but return to their true forms when wet. Luca follows Alberto to his hideout, where the boys connect while making and riding a makeshift, fragile Vespa. Upon discovering their son's actions, Luca's parents plan to send Luca to live in the deep sea with his uncle Ugo. In retaliation, Luca and Alberto run away to Portorosso to find a Vespa and travel the world.

The boys run afoul of Ercole Visconti, a local bully and repeat champion of the Portorosso Cup Race, but Giulia Marcovaldo, a young girl, helps them escape. In hopes of winning the money needed for a Vespa, the boys and Giulia form a team for the triathlon, which involves swimming, pasta-eating, and biking. Unable to swim without revealing themselves, Luca and Alberto respectively take on the biking and pasta-eating races, while Giulia takes the swimming race. Ercole vows to beat the group.

While the boys befriend Giulia's fisherman father Massimo, Luca's parents head to the surface to find their son. Giulia teaches Luca about school, and the two bond over a love of learning, especially about astronomy. Alberto becomes jealous of Luca and Giulia's growing friendship. When Luca starts ignoring Alberto's advice, and tries changing their plans to going to school instead of traveling, he and Alberto fight. In anger, Alberto intentionally reveals his true form to Giulia. Luca feigns surprise at the transformation, and a heartbroken Alberto is driven off by Ercole. Giulia later deliberately splashes water on Luca and sees his true identity; she sends him away for his own safety.

Luca attempts to reconcile with Alberto, and discovers that Alberto's father abruptly abandoned him long ago, making Alberto think he was a bad kid who should not have friends. Luca sets out to win the Vespa on his own, to make things right. After several mishaps, Luca takes the lead in the bicycle race, but is forced to take shelter when it starts to rain. Alberto arrives with an umbrella, but Ercole knocks it away and both boys are revealed as sea monsters. They flee Ercole, who now intends to harpoon them; Giulia helps by smashing her bike into Ercole's, but she is injured. Luca and Alberto turn back to help her, and are defended from monster hunters by Massimo, who reveals that the boys are his friends. He also points out they have crossed the finish line and won the race. Other disguised sea monsters reveal themselves, including Luca's family, and the townsfolk happily welcome them. Meanwhile, Ercole is humiliated by his henchmen, who were fed up with his abuse.

Luca and Alberto purchase a Vespa, but the latter sells it to buy a train ticket for Luca, allowing him to go to school in Genoa with Giulia. Luca's family, Massimo, and Alberto see Luca and Giulia off at the train station, where they all promise to stay in touch. During the credits, Luca meets Giulia's mother and attends school, while showing off his sea monster appearance. Massimo becomes Alberto's father figure, and Alberto and Luca's family enjoy interacting with the humans in Portorosso. In a post-credits scene, Ugo talks to a stray goatfish about how great his life is in the depths of the ocean.

Thookku Durai is the well-respected chieftain of his village Koduvilaarpatti of the Theni district. After ten years, a Thiruvizha (a Tamil festival) is set to occur at the village's Ayyanar temple, when Thooku Durai's rival Kozhimuthu tries to stop it from occurring. But Thooka Durai's pride scares him and his henchman, so the Thiruvizha happens as planned; however, his family and friends have been longing to see his wife and daughter. After much deliberation, Thooku Durai decides to go to Mumbai to meet them.

On the journey, Merit and Rosamani (Thooku Durai's uncles) are upset over Thooku Durai's current life and remind him of his life 10–12 years ago: Thooku Durai used to be a happy-go-lucky man and a rice mill owner. He was also a good man, although using violent ways to deal with problems. While chasing a few goons, he stumbles across Niranjana, a doctor, who witnesses his antics and lodges a case against him. When Thooku Durai sees Niranjana, he is immediately smitten by her. He surrenders to the police out of the love that he has for her, but she is later forced to release him after Aavudaiyappan threatens to close her medical camp unless she pays him. After fighting the goons, Thooku Durai relocates her field to his rice mill. Niranjana realizes her love for Thooku Durai and proposes to him, which he accepts after some consideration. They get married and lead a happy life, but Niranjana is disturbed by Thooku Durai's involvement in feuds. Soon, she gets pregnant and is accepted to go to one of the most exceptional pharmaceutical programs abroad, which she refuses for Thooku Durai. After their daughter Swetha is born, one day, Niranjana leaves out of town, after getting a promise from Thooku Durai not to bring Swetha to any fights. On the way to pick her up, Aavudaiyappan, an old rival, who is waiting for revenge, picks up a fight with Thooku Durai. Thooku Durai, not finding Niranjana at the train station, finds her at home, and the baby passes out as she had been injured during the fight. After rushing to the emergency ward, she survives, but Niranjana gets infuriated at Thooku Durai and tells him to stay away from her and the baby, and she then leaves him.

Back to the present day, Thooku Durai tries to meet up with Niranjana at her company, Niranjana Pharmaceuticals, to no avail. He later sees his daughter Swetha, who is in contention for the Junior National 100 m title. Swetha travels home when attempts are made to kill her. Thooku Durai arrives at the nick of time to save her. It is then revealed that Gautham Veer is the one behind this as his daughter Neha had been paralyzed while attempting suicide. Gautham is the CEO of Skyline exports and owns a range of multinational companies, and expects the first position in everything, as he used to achieve the same in his earlier days, including academics and sports. He expects the same of Neha, who is slower than Swetha by milliseconds. After Gautham threatens Neha that she would find no affection in him if she loses, she resorts to doping, which helps her win the race. Unfortunately, this is found out by Swetha, who reports it to the authorities. Fearing that her father's reputation and affection would completely vanish, Neha attempts suicide but becomes paralyzed in the process. Gautham is distraught on seeing his daughter's condition and vows to have Swetha killed at any cost.

After saving her, Thooku Durai requests Niranjana to appoint him as Swetha's driver, (Since the last one ran away) for the next ten days, until her competition, on the condition that he does not reveal any information about him being her father, to which she reluctantly accepts. He enjoys being in the company of his daughter while saving her from goons on multiple occasions. Thooku Durai later meets Gautham face-to-face and challenges him. Unfortunately, Thooku Durai is run over a car before Swetha's competition and is critical. Swetha then is forced to leave for America, and Thooku Durai recovers. Swetha also brings Gautham's daughter and wife. Before the competition, Gautham fights an already injured Thooku Durai, at which point Niranjana reveals that Thooku Durai is Swetha's father. Swetha lags during the meet as she has no encouragement. Thooku Durai fights Gautham back, reaches the track, and encourages his daughter by whistling. Swetha wins the race. At the same time, Gautham arrives at the road to attack Thooku Durai, but after seeing his daughter's recovery, he realizes his mistake. Thooku Durai tells Gautham that children should grow up as they desire and not to burden them with what the parents want. Swetha is announced as the winner, along with Thooku Durai's name added to her name by Niranjana, and they reunite with Thooku Durai.

In Gotham City on Halloween night, Carmine "The Roman" Falcone's nephew Johnny Viti was murdered by a mysterious figure who leaves his dummy-equipped gun and a jack-o-lantern behind at the crime scene. Gotham City Police Department Captain James Gordon summons District Attorney Harvey Dent, who has been doing his own investigation on the Falcone crime family, and Gotham's vigilante Batman to investigate the murder. While Dent is tasked to investigate the lantern, Batman chases after Catwoman to Falcone's counterfeit money. Unbeknownst to Batman, he was followed by Dent using a tracker he placed on one of Batman's batarangs. Dent suggests to move the money while Catwoman suggests they should burn it. Based on a coin flip, they decide to burn the money. This prompts Falcone to hire Mickey Chen to bomb Dent's home with Dent and his wife Gilda barely survived and Dent being hospitalised. Batman chases Chen down to the sewers where Chen runs into Solomon Grundy. As Grundy prepares to kill Chen, Batman stops Grundy and takes Chen to the GCPD where Gordon and Batman interrogate him. Chen declines his involvement in the bombing so they let him go.

Falcone's son Alberto sends flowers to Dent in the Falcone name in order to take suspicion off them, however, Falcone threatens Alberto to never do such thing again. One night, Dent escapes hospital to meet with Gordon, who gives him a gun for protection. After Chen is killed by Viti's murderer, Gordon and Batman question Calendar Man in Arkham Asylum on who Viti's murderer, coined "Holiday" due to his killing patterns on festive holidays, is. When Batman interrogates why Day asked for him, Day responds that his war on crime was a joke with Batman realising Joker has escaped Arkham. When Dent returns home, he is confronted by Joker, who threatens to kill Gilda for being a suspect in Holiday's identity. Joker knocks out Dent and wakes up to Batman. After leads from Dent and Sal Maroni, Batman learns Joker is after Falcone. Joker to work with Falcone on the holiday investigation. As Joker leaves, he is chased down by one of Falcone's bodyguard, but manages to escape. Suddenly, the bodyguard is killed by "Holiday".

Back in the batcave, Batman identifies Maroni, Falcone's sister Carla Viti, Joker, Falcone himself and a mysterious figure as leading suspects to being "Holiday". Bruce Wayne attends a yacht party celebrating Gotham's children clinic hosted by Falcone where he is also called out by Falcone as the son he never had. Bruce meets with Selina Kyle who calls off their relationship due to Bruce's activities as Batman. Joker attempts to gas Times Square but fails when forgetting to put the safety on. Batman then grapples onto Joker's plane and interrogates on why he is hunting down "Holiday" to which Joker responds he loves a good puzzle. After Batman takes out Joker he returns to the party. Back at the party, Selina introduces herself to Alberto. Batman confronts Alberto to being "Holiday" due to being the rejected son of the Falcone family. However, Alberto argues he never wanted revenge against Falcone but only to want to live his own life rather than being controlled by his father. Just when the New Year hits, "Holiday" kills Alberto. In his dying words, Alberto taunts Batman he is missing alot of pieces. "Holiday" then flees the yacht. Afterwards, Gordon and Dent meet with Batman who all question who "Holiday" really is and his next moves. Following Alberto's funeral, Falcone requests Bruce's help who denies to. Falcone then introduces his associate.

Din is a working-class college student in Shanghai who dreams to reunite with his childhood friend Li Na, who moved years ago from his neighborhood with her father, Mr. Wang, and lives a lavish life. One day, Din is given a teapot by an elderly man from which emerges Long, a wish dragon. Long informs Din he will grant three wishes to his master, whomever holds the teapot. Din will be Long's tenth and final master and will free Long from his servitude, allowing him to enter the Spirit world. Subsequently, Din is chased off by a trio of goons led by a man named Pockets, sent by Mr. Wang to recover the teapot in hopes of saving his failing business. Din uses his first wish to fight the goons and escape.

The next day, Din and Long arrive at Li Na's birthday party. Din makes his second wish to temporarily appear as a wealthy prince, hoping Li Na will notice him to rekindle their friendship. Li Na is disappointed when she realizes her father will not be attending her party. Din, keeping up with his cover-up, comforts her and they are asked by Mr. Wang (through a video call) to share a meal together. Long warns Din that Li Na would leave him as soon as she finds out his identity because of their different socioeconomic statuses.

At the date, Din asks Long for advice on how to act accordingly to his new status, but ends up upsetting Li Na in the process. They end up in Din's neighborhood after the goons intercept them again. Din reveals himself to Li Na, and they spend the rest of the day in the neighborhood reliving their childhood pastimes. However, Li Na retreats claiming that she has responsibilities and expectations she needs to meet, hurting Din's feelings. Later that night, Din angrily asks Long to make him rich in a last-ditch effort to be respected. Long reveals to Din that in life he was a wealthy and powerful lord whose reign ended in loneliness and tragedy and was punished to become a wishing dragon. Long's servitude as a wishing dragon is meant to make him appreciate the meaning of life and has failed to accomplish with all of his previous masters.

After tracking down Din, Pockets betrays Mr. Wang by taking the teapot for himself and asks the wish dragon for his first wish to turn everything he touches to gold. He drops Mr. Wang from a large scaffolding, mortally wounding him in front of Li Na. Din chases the goons, and eventually ends up fighting Pockets on Long's back. Pockets corners Din and prepares to hit him with his golden hand, but Long puts himself in the way, causing both him and Pockets to turn into gold statues. Din is unable to stop Long's statue from sinking to the bottom of a river, while Pockets shatters to pieces against the ground.

Long finds his human self at the entrance to the Spirit world. Despite being tempted to go through the gates, he pleads with the guardian god of the gate to return to Din because he has not used his third wish. The guardian agrees, on one condition. Din uses his last wish to bring Mr. Wang back to life, and Long disappears.

Sometime later, Mr. Wang starts a restaurant featuring Din's mother's cooking, with both Din and Li Na helping. Din finds a teapot like the one Long resided in and releases him. Long tells Din on the condition for his return to Earth was to stay and serve ten more masters. After saying goodbye to Long, Din places the teapot on a carriage driven by the elderly man at the beginning, who is actually the guardian of the gate to the Spirit world.
