Thookku Durai is the well-respected chieftain of his village Koduvilaarpatti of the Theni district. After ten years, a Thiruvizha (a Tamil festival) is set to occur at the village's Ayyanar temple, when Thooku Durai's rival Kozhimuthu tries to stop it from occurring. But Thooka Durai's pride scares him and his henchman, so the Thiruvizha happens as planned; however, his family and friends have been longing to see his wife and daughter. After much deliberation, Thooku Durai decides to go to Mumbai to meet them.

On the journey, Merit and Rosamani (Thooku Durai's uncles) are upset over Thooku Durai's current life and remind him of his life 10–12 years ago: Thooku Durai used to be a happy-go-lucky man and a rice mill owner. He was also a good man, although using violent ways to deal with problems. While chasing a few goons, he stumbles across Niranjana, a doctor, who witnesses his antics and lodges a case against him. When Thooku Durai sees Niranjana, he is immediately smitten by her. He surrenders to the police out of the love that he has for her, but she is later forced to release him after Aavudaiyappan threatens to close her medical camp unless she pays him. After fighting the goons, Thooku Durai relocates her field to his rice mill. Niranjana realizes her love for Thooku Durai and proposes to him, which he accepts after some consideration. They get married and lead a happy life, but Niranjana is disturbed by Thooku Durai's involvement in feuds. Soon, she gets pregnant and is accepted to go to one of the most exceptional pharmaceutical programs abroad, which she refuses for Thooku Durai. After their daughter Swetha is born, one day, Niranjana leaves out of town, after getting a promise from Thooku Durai not to bring Swetha to any fights. On the way to pick her up, Aavudaiyappan, an old rival, who is waiting for revenge, picks up a fight with Thooku Durai. Thooku Durai, not finding Niranjana at the train station, finds her at home, and the baby passes out as she had been injured during the fight. After rushing to the emergency ward, she survives, but Niranjana gets infuriated at Thooku Durai and tells him to stay away from her and the baby, and she then leaves him.

Back to the present day, Thooku Durai tries to meet up with Niranjana at her company, Niranjana Pharmaceuticals, to no avail. He later sees his daughter Swetha, who is in contention for the Junior National 100 m title. Swetha travels home when attempts are made to kill her. Thooku Durai arrives at the nick of time to save her. It is then revealed that Gautham Veer is the one behind this as his daughter Neha had been paralyzed while attempting suicide. Gautham is the CEO of Skyline exports and owns a range of multinational companies, and expects the first position in everything, as he used to achieve the same in his earlier days, including academics and sports. He expects the same of Neha, who is slower than Swetha by milliseconds. After Gautham threatens Neha that she would find no affection in him if she loses, she resorts to doping, which helps her win the race. Unfortunately, this is found out by Swetha, who reports it to the authorities. Fearing that her father's reputation and affection would completely vanish, Neha attempts suicide but becomes paralyzed in the process. Gautham is distraught on seeing his daughter's condition and vows to have Swetha killed at any cost.

After saving her, Thooku Durai requests Niranjana to appoint him as Swetha's driver, (Since the last one ran away) for the next ten days, until her competition, on the condition that he does not reveal any information about him being her father, to which she reluctantly accepts. He enjoys being in the company of his daughter while saving her from goons on multiple occasions. Thooku Durai later meets Gautham face-to-face and challenges him. Unfortunately, Thooku Durai is run over a car before Swetha's competition and is critical. Swetha then is forced to leave for America, and Thooku Durai recovers. Swetha also brings Gautham's daughter and wife. Before the competition, Gautham fights an already injured Thooku Durai, at which point Niranjana reveals that Thooku Durai is Swetha's father. Swetha lags during the meet as she has no encouragement. Thooku Durai fights Gautham back, reaches the track, and encourages his daughter by whistling. Swetha wins the race. At the same time, Gautham arrives at the road to attack Thooku Durai, but after seeing his daughter's recovery, he realizes his mistake. Thooku Durai tells Gautham that children should grow up as they desire and not to burden them with what the parents want. Swetha is announced as the winner, along with Thooku Durai's name added to her name by Niranjana, and they reunite with Thooku Durai.

Periyasamy is a farmer in Tamil Nadu, who leads a simple and happy life with his wife, Paapathi, and their children. One day, the family astrologer Kaali visits them and makes accurate predictions about their past and future. Periyasamy's world turns upside down the very same day, because just as Kaali had predicted, Paapathi slips and injures her head, and immediately succumbs to her injuries. Years go by, Periyasamy's children get married and move to Chennai for their livelihood leaving him alone in the village. He eagerly awaits his children's and grandchildren's occasional visits.

A young man, Eeswaran, joins as house help/ foster son for Periyasamy. Eeswaran is street smart, wise and runs from pillar to post to get things done, all the while establishing connections with many VIP's in the state. Periyasamy's children visit the village with their families for Paapathi's 25th death anniversary. At this time, the entire country goes into lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. Periyasamy is overjoyed at the idea of spending more time with his grandkids and calls astrologer Kaali, who predicts that there would certainly be a death in the next few days, leaving them worried about contracting the coronavirus and dying from the complications. So, the whole family takes the PCR tests and fortunately, the results come back as negative. However, the doctor calls Eeswaran about Diya, Periyasamy's 13 year old granddaughter and diagnoses her with a hole in her heart. Unbeknown to the family, Eeswaran arranges for open heart surgery for Diya, in an attempt to keep them calm till the day of the surgery.

Meanwhile, Eeswaran's married ex-girlfriend Vasuki, who happens to be one of Periyasamy's granddaughters, also comes to stay with them in the lockdown and this causes tension between the two. Poongodi, Vasuki's younger sister falls in love with Eeswaran, but he doesn't reciprocate her feelings because he doesn't want to leave Periyasamy and the village and it was also the reason he broke up with Vasuki. At this point, Periyasamy confesses to Eeswaran about how he lost the one true love of his life, Parvathi. He says that he married Paapathi after his break up, but Parvathi came back in his life again and he had no choice but to marry her as his second wife and they had a son. Things got out of hand when Paapathi came to know of this other woman. As a result, Parvathi takes her son and leaves, Periyasamy didn't know their whereabouts until that day. He urges Eeswaran to accept Poongodi's love and lead a happy life, Eeswaran obliges.

Periyasamy's daughter and son-in-law Maragadhamani's business keeps incurring losses and he gets loans from his wife's brothers but fails to repay them, often leading to family feuds. Maragadhamani resorts to asking Periyasamy to sell the family owned land and help him in his business, but Periyasamy vehemently refuses. So, Maragadhamani plans to kill Periyasamy in order to take the family property. He sends poisonous snakes into Periyasamy's farm, but Eeswaran comes to know of this plan and saves the family, but gets bitten. Knowing that it was Maragadhamani's plan, he thrashes him, but his family throws him out citing that he is just an outsider. Seeing the commotion, Diya faints and the whole family tries to rush her to the hospital for emergency surgery. But they are stopped by Rathnaswamy, Periyasamy's arch nemesis who was just released from jail. Rathnaswamy wants revenge against Periyasamy as he was the root cause of the suicide of his wife and daughter. Eeswaran saves the family once again despite the snake poison affecting his body. Finally, he defeats Rathnaswamy and his men and rushes to see Diya, where he collapses and is taken for emergency treatment for the snake bite. Amidst all the confusion, Sonamuthu, a close aide of Periyasamy and Kutty Puli, Eeswaran's friend, explains that Eeswaran is none other than Periyasamy and Parvathi's son Aadhisivan and the truth was hidden as a last wish from Parvathi before she died. Periyasamy and the whole family are overwhelmed hearing this and rush in to see him. Eeswaran recovers from the snake bite and Diya's surgery also is successful and the whole family is happily reunited.

Eeswaran gets married to Poongodi, he solves Maragadhamani's loan problems and asks him to do proper money management from now onwards. He gets a call informing him about the demise of the astrologer Kaali, indicating that Kaali's predictions came true in some form.

99 Songs is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language musical romance film directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, and co-written and produced by A. R. Rahman (in his maiden production banner YM Movies), who thus makes his debut in both roles, apart from composing the original score and songs. The film co-produced by Ideal Entertainment and distributed by Jio Studios, stars debutants Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas in lead roles, alongside Aditya Seal, Lisa Ray and Manisha Koirala among others portray supporting characters.[1] The film is a sensual story about art and self-discovery of a struggling singer who wants to be a successful music composer.

Rahman had written the script for the film in 2011, with Eros International initially announced to produce the film in August 2013. After Eros backed out of the project, Rahman stated that he will produce the film under his own banner YM Movies. This film is the debut directorial of Vishwesh, who worked as an advertisement filmmaker before Rahman offered him to direct for his production. Vishwesh, also a musician, is well-known for the Mumbai-based hardcore band Scribe. The scripting and finalizing process continued till four years before the film was officially announced in June 2015. The casting process is done by Mukesh Chhabra; around 1,000 auditions took place until the makers finalized Ehan and Edilsy as the lead actors.

Production of the film silently progressed in March 2017 and ended within a year. The cinematography for the film was jointly handled by Tanay Satam and James Cowley, while editing was done by Akshay Mehta and Shreyas Beltangdy. The dialogues for the film were written by Hussain Dalal while Gautham Menon and Kiran gave the dialogues for the Tamil and Telugu versions. For the Tamil version, G. V. Prakash Kumar and Khatija Rahman gave voice-overs for the film's lead actors.

The world premiere of 99 Songs was held at the 24th Busan International Film Festival which was held at Busan, South Korea, where the film was screened in the Open Cinema category on 9 October 2019.[2][3] The film was released on 16 April 2021,[4] and was also dubbed and released in Tamil and Telugu

The film starts off by showing Shakthi successfully robbing a moving train by cutting a hole in its roof. The police department appoints about-to-retire C. K. Manickavasagam to find out the culprit behind the train heist. Meanwhile, private detective Diya, who works exclusively for criminals, investigates a separate robbery from the car of a young man called Malik, son of the crime lord Jamalhudeen. Diya eventually comes across a video showing Shakti's face at the robbery.

Even whilst being pursued by Manickavasagam, Shakti carries out another heist from a flower market. The police chief and a few other officers get there immediately afterwards, but Shakti has already escaped. Everyone at the flower shop is arrested. Wanting to catch Shakti, he makes the IDCK bank put out a fake announcement. Shakthi's policeman friend Jagannathan warns him not to do it, but his urge to steal overcomes him and he carries it out right under the nose of Manickavasagam, who was waiting in the bank.

Diya breaks into Shakti's house and waits for him to return. Shakti opens a secret door containing all the money he ever stole, before Diya knocks him unconscious and walks in. She calls Jamal and tells him where all his money is. Jagan eventually arrives and finds an unconscious Shakti and Diya in the room. After being accused by Diya of being criminals, Jagan explains that Shakti has had a mental disorder from childhood where he feels an incredibly strong urge to steal money for no reason at all. To help him curb his urges, Jagan became an officer in the economic crime department and always tells him where to steal illegal money. Diya helps the two escape from Jamal, who takes all the money from the room.

Manickavasagam eventually captures Sakthi and Jagan, then complains to them about a corrupt politician who intends on bribing other politicians to win an election. Shakthi offers to steal the money for him, and Manickavasagam accepts. Shakti does so successfully, but then Jamal and his thugs arrive at the scene and try to grab the money, but all his goons are eventually knocked out or killed by Shakti or Manickavasagam, and Jamal himself is shot. Then Manickavasagam reveals to Shakti that he too is a corrupt person, and intends on keeping the money for himself. Before he can shoot Shakthi, the other police officers come and stop him. Rather than arresting him, they choose to hush it up to save the reputation of the state police force. Shakti and Diya are thanked publicly, and it is announced that 15 lakh rupees will be paid to each of all the farmers in India using the stolen money.

Bairavaa, a collection agent for ICICI Bank in Chennai, is a righteous person who is willing to employ even violent means to get back money from debtors. During his manager's daughter's wedding, he comes across Malarvizhi, a medical student from Kallidaikurichi in Tirunelveli district, and immediately falls in love with her. When he goes to the Koyambedu bus station to propose his love to Malar before she leaves Chennai, he notices her cornered by a group of thugs who plan to kill her as she was allegedly involved in an attack on a Union Minister's son Charan. However, they back off after receiving a call from one Periyakannu alias PK from Tirunelveli, who tells them not to harm her. Bairavaa confronts Malar, who tells him why PK spared her life.

Malar studies in PK Medical College in Tirunelveli, whose chairman is PK, a butcher-turned-criminal don and politician who runs Tirunelveli along with his right-hand man Kottai Veeran. The college has no basic facilities, including a proper building and good doctors. Malar and her friend Vaishali lodged a complaint against the college to the MCI, who decided to blacklist the college after noting the poor facilities. To save his reputation, PK made a deal with the MCI officials to revoke the suspension in exchange for them having sex with a girl from the college. Vaishali, who was the girl chosen by the officials, was found raped and killed the next morning. Malar's father, a sincere police officer, began an investigation into PK's involvement in Vaishali's death, but he too was killed by PK in retribution. After her father's death, Malar dragged PK to court, where the judge declared that Malar should not be expelled and must not be harmed till the case is resolved, even though she had filed the complaint against PK. Though PK respects the judge's decision, he harasses Malar indirectly through the college lecturers and by cutting power and water to her locality. He plans to kill her once the verdict is declared in his favor. During the wedding, Malar had given the video evidence of Vaishali being raped to Charan, since, being a Union Minister's son, he would have access to the NIC where the video would be investigated. Charan was later attacked by PK's henchmen, who then took away the video evidence and put the blame on Malar. Bairavaa, on hearing Malar's story, decides to help her fight PK and get justice for Vaishali and leaves for Kallidaikurichi with her.

Posing as an income tax officer, Bairavaa conducts a raid at PK's mansion, taking away all the evidence which holds PK responsible for Vaishali's death. PK soon realizes that Bairavaa is after him, and a cat-and-mouse game begins between Bairavaa and PK. In the process, PK gets back the evidence and destroys them, leaving Bairavaa with no evidence to implicate PK, though he manages to get five more days time from the court to get the required evidence. Meanwhile, Kottai Veeran's wife, who was terminally ill, passes away. Bairavaa decides to take advantage of Kottai Veeran's love for his wife to get him on his side and make him approver against PK. He switches PK's asthma inhaler with nitrous oxide. PK, who inadvertently inhales the gas before going to Kottai Veeran's wife's funeral, begins to laugh uncontrollably, even during the funeral, causing Kottai Veeran to turn against him and accept Bairavaa's offer of becoming approver. In revenge for betraying him, PK confronts Kottai Veeran and hacks him to death.

Bairavaa decides to finish off PK once and for all as that is the only way he can now get justice for Malar and Vaishali. He frames PK for plotting to assassinate the Prime Minister of India while he is on the way to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. The news spreads all across India and soon it is ordered to shoot PK on sight. PK, realizing that he is cornered, tries to kill Bairavaa before he dies, but Bairavaa manages to dodge him. He then disguises himself as a NSG commando, blends in with the real NSG commandos who have arrived at the building, and kills PK.

In the end, the verdict is declared in favor of Bairavaa and Malar. PK's henchmen are arrested, while the students of PK Medical College are shifted to another college. In a press conference, Bairavaa, while supporting private colleges, says that it is important that the person heading such colleges is honest and sincere enough to ensure that the students are safe and receive a good education.

Michael Rayappan is a crime boss from Chennai who works for the welfare of people in his slum. He has a romantic relationship with Angel Aasirvatham, a physiotherapist who comically refuses to marry any groom at the last minute due to their love. He has a running feud with a rival don named Daniel. One night, Daniel attacks Michael and his close friend Kathir, who is the coach of the Tamil Nadu women's football team. Kathir suffers spinal injuries during the attack, due to which he is paralysed for a year. To allow the women's football team to take part in the upcoming National Championship in Delhi, Kathir requests to the Tamil Nadu Football Federation to replace him with his former teammate named "Bigil", who is none other than Michael. The story then shifts to Michael's past as a football player.

Seven years earlier, Michael was an aspiring footballer and contributed to victories for the Tamil Nadu football team along with Kathir. His father was Rayappan, a don who had a feud with a rival don named Alex, who was Daniel's father. Rayappan encouraged his son's passion for football as he did not want him to end up as a criminal like him. When Michael was unable to make it to the Indian football team due to Rayappan's criminal record, Rayappan personally took up the matter with the All India Football Federation president J. K. Sharma and forcefully ensured Sharma to include Michael and Kathir in the Indian team probable list. But despite Rayappan's efforts, Michael's football career was cut short as he witnessed Rayappan getting stabbed to death by Alex and Daniel, just when he was about to leave for Delhi to attend the selection trial for the Indian football team. Michael killed Alex in front of Daniel, taking revenge for Rayappan's death, and instead stayed back in Chennai to become the new leader of Rayappan's gang.

In the present day, Michael confronts Daniel and attempts to kill him for the earlier attack, but fortunately the police intervene to arrest Daniel and send him to prison. Michael later accepts Kathir's request to coach the women's football team and leaves for Delhi with the team, with Angel also accompanying them as team physiotherapist. However, due to his criminal background, the girls refuse to cooperate with him, even blaming him for the team's opening loss to Manipur in the National Championship and requesting the Federation to have him removed. Dejected, Michael gives his resignation to Sharma, but he soon discovers that Sharma is targeting him in revenge for the humiliation that he had faced at the hands of Rayappan to allow him into the Indian football team. Sharma sends armed assailants to attack Michael; however, Michael subdues the assailants and withdraws his resignation. He convinces the girls to support him and starts training them hard with the sole focus of winning the Championship. He even manages to bring back two former key players to boost the team's strength: Gayathri, a Brahmin girl who quit playing football after she was married to a conservative family; and Anitha, who is in depression and has refused to even leave her room ever since a man threw acid on her face when she spurned his advances. Despite Sharma trying to rig the team's next match against Haryana so that they will be eliminated and sent home, they manage to beat Haryana and win all their remaining matches, eventually qualifying for the Final at Chennai, where they are to play Manipur again.

On the eve of the final, one of the team's players, Vembu, is kidnapped and forcefully injected with cocaine by Daniel, who is bailed out from jail and hired by Sharma in order to sabotage the team's chances of winning the Championship. Though she recovers, she is unable to play in the final as she would fail the dope test. The team's captain, Thendral, is also kidnapped by Daniel, who attempts to forcefully inject cocaine on her as well; however, Michael manages to rescue her. Michael chases Daniel to his house and proceeds to kill him once and for all, but once he sees Daniel's young son, he changes his mind and spares Daniel, as he realises he does not want the young boy's future to end up like his by killing his father. The next day, Tamil Nadu plays the Final against Manipur without Vembu. The match turns out to be a thriller with Tamil Nadu winning the Championship through a penalty shootout. Michael and the team dedicate their success to Kathir, who is watching the match from the dugout in a wheelchair.

During the credits, Michael gets Sharma exposed for drug possession, leading to Sharma's arrest and subsequent execution in Malaysia, where he is on a holiday. A few months later, Michael, no longer a rowdy, takes up football coaching for children, with one of his students being the son of Daniel, both of whom have now made peace with Michael.

Parvathy (Shraddha Srinath) a.k.a Paaru, is a restoration architect who comes to a small coastal village in Kerala for a project, while avoiding a marriage set-up back home. She finds a fairy-tale she had heard long ago as a child painted across the village. With the help of her friend, she ends up renting a house, filled messily with art and artefacts. She learns that it belongs to an artist named Maara (Madhavan) who is responsible for the paintings across the village. Maara is a free spirit and traveler who is often away visiting various places and returning as he pleases. When she starts cleaning up the place, she finds Maara’s photo and a sketchbook. The sketches depict the previous New Year's Eve when a small-time thief (Alexander Babu) tried to rob Maara. In a turn-of-events, Maara joins the thief, and they both go on the rooftop of a home with a plan to rob the place. There, they see a woman about to shoot herself. The sketchbook ends there, and the story is left unfinished, which piques Paaru’s curiosity about the rest of the story, and Maara as a person.

Intrigued, Paaru starts finding the people in Maara’s sketches. Backtracking his steps, she meets an antique dealer, Usman bhai, a “pirate”, Chokku and learns about Selvi (Abhirami), a physically abused woman that Maara had known. Maara and Chokku had taken Selvi out to sea for her birthday where after having an evening that alleviated her sorrows, Selvi committed suicide. Maara then ensures that her daughter, Rani is enrolled into a school. When Paaru gets news that Rani has gone missing from her school, she traces her back to her father’s lodge. Meanwhile Maara, who has returned to the village, tracks Rani down to the lodge and rescues her from her abuser. Paaru gets a glimpse of Maara but just misses an encounter with him.

One day, she meets the thief depicted in the sketches and enquires about that day's events. He informs her that Maara stopped the woman from shooting herself, and followed her when she started to run away from him. They find the house and finally identify the woman as Doctor Kani (Sshivada). Paaru then tracks her to a mountain village and enquires about her story. Kani explains that when she performed her first independent operation as a paediatrician, a surgical error led to the death of a 10-year-old girl. Further slandered by the media, she was desperate and about to commit suicide on New Years’ Eve when she was by chance, stopped by Maara. Maara then brings her to his mountain village, maintained by Vellaiya (Moulee), his foster father, and she has since been living there. Vellaiya, a retired postmaster and a hopeless romantic, has been searching for his teenage love Meenakshi for nearly fifty years. Vellaiya constantly tells the story of acting out a play to convey his love to Meenakshi, and eventually losing her when a storm flooded his home village.

When Vellaiya shows Paaru a photo of Meenakshi, she notices that she has on the same pendant of a conch as her aunt, Mary, who is a nurse at a convent. She brings her Aunt Mary to the village on Vellaiya’s birthday, realising that the plot of his play is the fairy-tale she had heard as a child from Aunt Mary - a story of an immortal soldier who spends years looking for his beloved mystical fish. An emotional Maara, who has spent all his adult life travelling from place to place in search of Meenakshi, thanks Paaru for fulfilling Velliya's wish. Paaru, who has chased one story after another in an attempt to find Maara, finally meets him in person. They introduce themselves and hold hands as they watch the sun set.

Vtikram a.k.a. Sulthan, (Karthi) a motherless child is raised by a group of hardened criminals who work for his father Sethupathi. He loves these 100 men as brothers lbut despises their taste for violence. Following the death of his father, the responsibility to take care of these men falls on the shoulders of Sulthan. That is when he decides to transform them and teach them to live as civilized people. 49 robberies occurred on August 15th - Independence Day, with two masked robbers looting houses. The entire police force is clueless without the slightest lead or evidence. Assistant Commissioner Gayathiri (Sharaddha Srinath) is assigned to the case. She realizes that 50 houses were looted in total, with the 50th being the house of Chandru (Vishal), her former love interest. Chandru's grandmother (K. R. Vijaya) gets injured in the theft in an attempt to safeguard the Ashoka Chakra medal, which was bestowed to Chandru's late father (Nassar). However, the thieves knocked her down and stole the medal. Now, it is Chandru's personal mission to avenge them, retrieve the medal, and solve the case.

Chandru looks back at the case details and information from the victims to realize that the robbers had known the exact location of money and jewels in every house. He deduces that the robbers had visited every house beforehand and planned the theft to perfection. Hence, he writes down a list of people who can get access to people's houses and realizes that a company known as Dial For Help, which provides household services like technicians, plumber, etc., may be involved in the case. Hence, he heads to the headquarters and realizes that all 50 houses had been serviced by the company under a common number belonging to a man named Marimuthu.

Police rush to his house, only to find him already dead. Marimuthu's widow explains that her husband was a good man who had died two years ago. Chandru, with no other clue, returns. Meanwhile, an unknown person calls the Police Commissioner (Vijay Babu) and informs him that he was responsible for all the thefts thus far. He also challenges the entire force that no one would be able to track him down.

Accepting this as a challenge, Chandru tries to provoke the unknown person, which appears to be successful as he gives a clue to his location - 00100. The police realize that it refers to a place, and they rush to the place, only to find destroyed computers. Chandru reveals that he knew the person would have left, but he only rushed to find any clue that he may have left. After some time, Chandru heads back to share his findings.

He reveals that the number 00100 was written on the walls in that place and that it was drawn in such a way that refers to the queen in chess, and that the hacker had left a partial thumbprint on the scanner used to destroy all data. He further reveals that theft would occur in 58 more houses on August 23rd due to the CM's arrival. Lastly, he reveals that the hacker that they were searching for thus far was not a man, but a woman.

The unknown hacker is revealed to be Leela (Regina Cassandra), who works as a chess coach. A flashback shows that a young Leela (Baby Krithika) had loved her mother (Neelima Rani) tremendously, and both of them had a tight bond. Her alcoholic and abusive father (Aruldoss) tortures her mother every day. One day, Leela wakes up to find her mother died while in her sleep. Her father immediately marries another woman and brings with her two young sons. Later Leela's father reveals that he and his new wife had suffocated and killed Leela's mother. An enraged Leela kills both her father and stepmother using electricity and water. She uses her stepmother's two sons as baits for her thefts. Next, a cat-and-mouse chase begins between Leela and Chandru, in which Chandru wins. The movie ends with an open end for a sequel where Leela challenges Chandru by uttering the words "The game begins".

The movie starts off with the story of how God created Adam and Eve. Then, the screen moves to the present where they show newly wedded couple Balaji alias Bala (Ashwin Kakumanu) and Priya (Sshivada) moving into their new apartment. Bala's father Vijay Kumar (Ravi Raghavendra) does not approve of the marriage because of a history of mental illness in Priya's family. Her mother (Lintu Rony) had gone mad after she was pregnant with Priya, and died giving birth to her. But Bala accepts Priya even after knowing her past, due to the great love he has on her. After moving into their new home, the young couple visit a store where she takes some lipsticks without paying and claims that she does not remember taking it. She argues with the security guard and is forced to leave. After returning home and refusing to meet Bala's visiting father, she shares her past with her neighbour and tells how she cannot get pregnant. Later that night, Priya dreams about her mother and talks to her about how everyone today called her a thief, and initially reluctant, she accepts that she stole the lipstick and explains that how she has an affinity towards pink color and how she enjoys it, and after that, she soon enters a world where her mother is and starts sleepwalking at night. This is the part where weird and eerie things begin to happen around her and she starts seeing illusions and becomes almost mad and stabs Bala one day. She gets stuck into the world where her mom is and Lilith, a Biblical demon (Andreanne Nouyrigat) starts to roam freely after taking over the body of Priya. Bala searches for Solomon (JD Chakravarthy), who has the supernatural ability to speak with ghosts and is an occult specialist and explains the situation to him. Solomon confronts the possessed Priya and when Priya/Lilith touches Solomon, he sees everything about the being called Lilith who was created before Eve at the beginning of the time with Adam and how when Lilith rebelled and abandoned Adam did God create Eve as Adam's better half. God had cursed Lilith for abandoning Adam with the inability to have a child and Lilith conceived so many times with the devil's child but every child was dead or still born, and she finally becomes a hateful spirit who, over the time as a spirit, tortured and caused pregnant women to miscarriage, and kill themselves and trapping their soul in her spirit world, and Priya is the only child to escape her death, and now she wants to destroy the world as part of devils' bidding. It is revealed that the Devil himself, in the form of a snake has sent Lilith to carry his mission to destroy the world. Since Bala is a hindrance in her mission, she decides to kill him, but the Devil suggests that since Lilith resides in Priya's body and if Lilith touches Bala, her powers will be lost, as Priya and Bala have been soulmates for the past 7 births and their love is more stronger than Lilith. Solomon explains the situation to other priests and priests from different parts of the world come together to challenge Lilith but they eventually fail. When Lilith tries to choke Bala, he touches her, and Priya starts to remember all the times they spent together and gets unpossessed and returns to the real world where Balaji and Solomon are, and when Lilith is about to possess Priya again, God freezes the time and saves the world and the God blesses Priya with pregnancy, it is then revealed that the God chose the couple to be the parents of his child and also destroys Lilith permanently. The film ends with the Devil in the form a snake taking his usual form of a giant human and vowing to complete his mission by himself, hence hinting at a possible sequel, Zero-2.

The story starts with Vasu (Vaibhav) narrating his story from childhood. He has four close friends: Kanagasabhapathi (Karunakaran), Kalyanasundaram (Arjunan ), Pattabi (Venkat Sundar), and Venky (Karthik Priyadarshan). The five friends worship Seenu Anna (Robo Shankar) for his dedication to friendship, and one day, he advises to them that marriage will spoil friendship.

All the friends take this seriously, except for Vasu, who has a liking for girls, and he is forced to promise not to marry lifelong along with his friends. After failing many attempts of falling in love at school and college (his friends spread rumors that he is gay), he decides to leave to Chennai so that he would get an opportunity to love a girl. He stays with Nelson (VTV Ganesh), who has affairs with many rich and beautiful girls. Nelson persuades Vasu to trap a rich girl, citing that middle-class and college girls will have bigger competition and high expectations, but rich girls have very less expectations, and many guys do not try to date them, assuming that it is impossible to woo them. He hands the pub membership card to Vasu so that he can get to see many rich girls.

During a visit to the pub, arrives Deepika (Sonam Bajwa) in an Audi car with a male friend, who collapses due to excess drinking. Vasu falls in love with her instantly, helps her lift the friend, accompanies her to the pub, and befriends her. However, when he visits her home the next day, she is unable to recall about him since she was drunk the previous night and rejects his love advances. After all the cop thrashing and goons threatening, Deepika falls in love with him.

Meanwhile, Vasu's friends come to know about his love affair and threaten him to break up with her, but when he acts as if he is committing suicide, they act as if they accept his love but plan to irritate Deepika and break their love. Deepika gets annoyed by their behavior. Soon, the four friends manage to create a rift between both of them, and the duo gets separated. Deepika gets depressed and decides to marry a family friend (Steeve Vatz) who keeps proposing to her from the beginning. Vasu feels depressed after the breakup, and his friends decide that the only way they can see their friend happy is to patch him up with his lady love, and they plot many master plans to stop the wedding. Soon, it is stopped.

Deepika then marries Vasu, and they lead a happy life. Vasu also keeps in touch with his friends forever.

Bhoominathan is a NASA scientist who discovers that plant life can exist on Mars by adjusting certain anaerobic conditions needed for survival. 

He is highly praised by his peers for his discovery. While on a one-month vacation in Tamil Nadu, he discovers that his village is affected by drought and the underwater reservoir of his land has been drained away for futile purposes by certain corporations. He's also dismayed to find out that his uncle, who is an agriculturalist is burdened with farm debts due to the scarcity of water supply in his village. His uncle had tried to sort out this issue rigorously with the local MLA, the district collector and the governing body but in vain, and eventually, he succumbs to the pressure by burning himself. Unable to withstand the grief over the death of his uncle, Bhoominathan vows to avenge Richard Child, the chief of the main corporate (who is the main villain in this story) by summoning him to the court of law, but his attempts go unrecognised before the villain's money and might. However, Bhoominathan decides to fight it out in an intelligent way by gaining the trust of his village people and by starting his own trusted corporate 'Thamizhan' by the village people and the corporate company's former employees, despite facing many obstacles. Finally, he succeeds in his attempts and reclaims and replenishes his land using the knowledge of his hybrid plant technology that he had learnt in the past and saves his land and his people from drought.

In Nagercoil, 2003, teenager Bhavani witnesses his family get murdered by his father's rivals. He is forced to take the blame and is incarcerated in a juvenile detention facility, where he is tortured mercilessly. As a consequence, he develops a ruthless and brash persona. Years later, Bhavani escapes from the facility and becomes a criminal in the lorry and trade business. Gradually, he becomes a feared gangster, and remains immune from punishment by coercing the inmates of the detention facility to take the blame. Grooming an enormous empire for himself, he grows on par with his father's former rivals and eventually kills them.

In Chennai, 2019, John "J.D." Durairaj, a popular college lecturer beloved by his students for his student-friendly approach, is struggling with alcoholism and bitter dislike from fellow staff. Only Charu, a newly hired lecturer at his college, sympathizes with him. After he organizes a college election that goes awry, he is assigned to the juvenile detention facility for a three-month assignment. The staff tells him that he volunteered for the job, but he does not recall doing so. He reluctantly assumes his new position, and is warned by the prison authorities of the rampant drug abuse and violence there, but J.D. pays no heed.

The next day, J.D discovers that two young inmates, brothers Sabari and Manikandan, were murdered. He is interrogated by police. A grief-stricken Charu admonishes him for his reckless and negligent behaviour, revealing that she was the one who had signed him up for the job, believing him to be the only teacher capable of understanding the needs of the inmates. She reveals herself as an non-governmental organisation volunteer investigating the crimes occurring in the facility; the brothers had desperately contacted her for help. While in detention, J.D. discovers a letter written by the brothers to him, detailing the horrific activities taking place inside the centre. Heartbroken, he thrashes Bhavani's goons who had been dispatched to kill him and calls him, promising to end his reign of terror and crime. He redeems himself and quits his tryst with alcohol.

Now reformed, J.D. slowly gains control over the institution and begins to reform the inmates, with the help of Charu and the facility's authorities. His actions are opposed by Das, an older inmate responsible for the illegal drugs and alcohol. With the support of a young inmate, Undiyal, J.D. uncovers the various crimes and gets the inmates to record confessions. J.D. discovers that Bhavani regularly makes the inmates take the blame for his crimes. Bhavani's goons target Charu and retrieves the video from her, sparing her only because of Undiyal's timely intervention.

Undiyal reveals that selected inmates of the facility are tattooed with the Tamil letter "Pa", a symbol that allows them unrestricted access to free food and drugs from Bhavani's associates. J.D. targets and raids the respective establishments and cuts off the drug supply to the detention facility, much to Bhavani's frustration. He also sneaks into Bhavani's place and warns Bhavani's men to stand down, threatening them of dire consequences (while unknowingly holding Bhavani himself at knifepoint).

Bhavani retaliates by killing J.D.'s associates. With J.D. distracted, Das drags most of the inmates out of the facility, including Undiyal, to transport them out of Tamil Nadu. J.D., with the help of his friend Vaanathi, who is an expert in archery, manages to subdue Das' men and rescues the children. J.D. then confronts Das and makes him realize that Bhavani only intends to use the latter^{[clarification needed]} as a pawn for his crimes. Das reforms himself and transports J.D. to Bhavani's headquarters. Bhavani attempts to have J.D. and Das killed. The duo subdue Bhavani's men and fights him. He attempts to form a truce and escape, but J.D. overpowers and kills him. With the children safe, J.D. and Das surrender to the police.

The detention facility is shut down by the government, with the inmates being sent to other detention facilities and state prisons, on the basis of their age. J.D. and Das are imprisoned together, indicating the duo's intention to reform the prison's inmates as well.
